The sacred ceremony was held near the close of the Lake Union executive committee meeting in Berrien Springs, Mich., on Nov. 15, 2023.
The citation read:
“With highest respect and great appreciation, the North America Division, Native American and First Nations Ministries Advisory Council would like to honor you with this star quilt. It says, you have been a leader and a friend to all of us. Your assistance in furthering the goals of the advisory has been invaluable and your presence and support are going to be sorely missed. We pray for heaven's blessings on you as you take up your new duties and your position here at the Lake Union.”
Denslow responded:
“I just want to say thank you to the native advisory. It was a joy to serve 10 years as chair of that advisory. And we had the opportunity to go to amazing places and do amazing things all the way from way, way, way north in the Arctic Circle to the hot areas of Arizona. It’s been a blessing.”
